Landon rebounds to defeat Archbishop Spalding

Coming off its tough 10-9 loss against 11th ranked Hill Academy, Landon got right back on track in its 6-4 win over Archbishop Spalding.

In the first quarter, Landon dominated in possession, but failed to break through Spalding’s zone defense and score.  Spalding struck first on a fast break goal with less than two minutes remaining in the quarter.  After Sean O’Brien ripped a shot off the pipe, Jack Bolen regained possession, dodged past a defender and hit the back of the next with five seconds left.

The Bears kept their momentum going with a goal from Sam Lynch one minute into the second quarter.  Landon continued to dominate for the rest of the quarter, extending their lead to 5-1 by the end of the half.

Landon scored the only goal of the third quarter to take a five-goal advantage.  Archbishop Spalding finally found a way through the Bears defense in the fourth quarter, scoring three goals.  Still it was not enough to catch Landon who finished with the two-goal victory.

On the attack, Landon’s six goals were spread out amongst five players.  Led by Bolen, two goals, and Colton Rupp, one goal, the Bears’ offense dominated in possession.  Defensively, Landon jumped right on Spalding every time the Cavaliers got the ball, getting control back right away.

Moving up to 24th in the DigitalSports National Lacrosse Rankings, the Bears are now 3-1.  On March 20, Landon hosts Avon Old Farms in its next contest.

Key Players:

Jack Bolen- 2 goals

Colton Rupp- 1 goal
