Landon School is currently on a string of big wins. After suffering their first loss to Hill Academy in their third game of the season, the Bears have six straight, giving them an 8-2 record. In those six wins, Landon acquired a +57 goal difference.
The Bears most recently victory came against Our Lady-Good Counsel in a 13-4 victory. Wasting no time in getting started, the Bears scored on the very first possession when Jarrett Witzal won the opening faceoff and fed Jack Bolen who hit the back of the net. Running with that momentum, Landon jumped out to a 5-2 lead in the first quarter.
In the second, Good Counsel started to work its way back. The Falcons found a way to slow down Landon’s offense, holding the Bears to just one goal, and scored two goals, leading to a 6-4 halftime score line.
Landon found its rhythm again in the third quarter, striking mesh five times. All the while, Landon’s defense subdued Good Counsel’s offense, keeping them off the scoreboard for the entire second half. The Bears added on two goals in the fourth, giving them a comfortable 9-point victory.
Offensively, Landon was unstoppable. Eight players scored for the Bears, with four scoring multiple goals. Sean O’Brien paved the way with a hat trick. Jack Bolen, Rob Adkins, and Austin Petty all scored two goals.
With this victory, Landon, ranked 15th in the DigitalSports National Lacrosse Rankings, is cruising on a six-game win streak. The Bears get a nice break before getting back on the field on Monday, April 7 to host Potomac School.
